Volunteering At JOC

No special background check is necessary to volunteer at Jars of Clay or the Help Center for high school, college or group volunteers. We treat volunteers like gold because they are the reason we shine! More than 80% of our support is from dedicated volunteers who love God and the community of people we serve, the homeless. Discover what matters to you through fun "bite size" volunteer opportunities through Jars of Clay.

Groups or persons interested in volunteering should fill out the tab below and a staff member will arrange a tour of the facilities and organize the volunteer project.  Volunteers will be offered several assignments to choose from. Thank you for considering sharing your talent with Jars of Clay.

Community Service

Many times good people opt to complete community service hours in lieu of paying a fourt fine.  As a non-profit organization we are a member of the local court systems surrounding the Metroplex of Atlanta.  ln the event a consumer wanted to complete their community service hours at our 24 hr. facility one would need to:

  • call our main number  404.228.9753  or apply on line (this site)

  • present court documents verifying the charges and hours needed

  • have legal identification

  • fill out an application with our agency

  • complete a background check through our organization (fee included)

  • clients cannot have crimes against children

  • choose the days and times to fulfill your required hours

Once your community hours are fulfilled we will draft a letter to the probation officer handling the case.

Mentor/ Imagine Me Academy Ambassador

No special background or education is required to become a JOC Mentor. We encourage people from all cultures and professions, and of all ethnic and educational backgrounds. Once accepted into the program, you will receive all necessary training covering the JOC mission,  confidentiality procedures, program understanding, social services, the juvenile justice system and the special needs of abused and neglected/rejected teens and children. In the event the Mentor wants to become an Ambassador or take a child home for respite care or an activity, a background check will be required.

Requirements include:

  • Be 21 years old (unless with a parent)

  • Be willing to complete necessary background checks, provide references and participate in an interview

  • Complete a pre-service training

  • Be available for court appearances, with advance notice

  • Be willing to commit to the JOC program until your first case is closed

Connect with us today and change the lives of the least of these! We would love to have you on our team.
